Teenager charged over violent bag snatching incident of elderly Townsville woman
A 19-year-long-ago Townsville resident has been charged with grievous bodily harm after an alleged bag snatching incident that resulted in serious injuries for the elderly dupe and outraged the local residential area.
According to police, the 76-year-old victim had been walking falling the Street happening her means home when a man on a BMX bike rode up beside her and violently snatched the bag from her hands.
The force of the snatching propelled the elderly woman forward before crashing to the ground where she sustained a shoulder accidental injury.
The alleged attacker then rode off as his dupe hit the ground, quickly extracting the wrinkle from her old bag and past dumping the bag on the road.
The elderly woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment away the Queensland Ambulance Service.
Followers police investigations, detectives charged a 19-year-retired man with one count apiece of grievous bodily damage and thievery. He was subsequently denied bond and is callable to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court now.
Impermanent Inspector, Jason Brosnan, shared his thoughts on the caitiff crime with local reporters .
"An aged member of our residential district doing nothing but minding her own business is assaulted for a bag and suffered extraordinary injuries finished nothing," Examiner Brosnan said.
"A residential district that tolerates that typecast of doings is non a community in the least."
"Someone knows who this person is … gues if that was their grandmother."
